the process and the making

Statement

In a world that is increasingly dependent upon virtual means of connecting, art is uniquely able to bind us in a visceral and physical way. My work is about making this connection, breaking down barriers, and bridging the small gaps that too often and easily separate us. I actively use beauty in order to engage the viewer’s attention in much the same way that a baker uses the smell of fresh bread to lure the passerby into her bakery. My hybrid installation of painting, performance, and poetry draws viewers into the universal experience of being human. In, learning what forever feels like, the viewer is brought into a deep and dynamic understanding of absence. The painting sets the stage for the performance, the performance connects the audience to the poetry, and the poetry makes the painting come to life. My work makes the space sing, and the audience cannot help but listen.

Every generation needs it’s artists, and I make art well. When I make I am challenged, elated, strong, and full. When I have made something, I am spent, ecstatic, and whole. The process and the end of making are my purpose, and with this purpose I am happy. I am an artist.

  1. I am so excited about your art and your future! Keep sharing this extension of yourself with a world.
